You have a set number of years to complete your program at UPOU. This is your maximum residency. The Maximum Residency Rule (MRR) states that you have 7 years to finish the ASIT program (that is to say, you need to complete the program within 21 trimesters). See https://registrar.upou.edu.ph/maximum-residency-rule/ for more details.
I had previously taken a leave of absence. How does this affect my maximum residency?
Your residency is counted starting from the first term you started the ASIT program. It doesn't matter whether, at any time, you 1) took a leave of absence (LOA), registered for Residency, or 2) you were absent without leave (AWOL) and then readmitted. That is to say, terms in which you filed for LOA or Residence, or terms in which you were AWOL, are treated exactly the same as terms in which you were enrolled in classes, at least for the purposes of computing your residency.
How do I compute my last enrollable term?
Add 7 to the year you started, and then subtract one term. This will be your last enrollable term (the last term in which you are permitted to register for classes).
- Example: You first enrolled in ASIT during AY 2023-2024, 1st Trimester.
- 2023 + 7 years = 2030
- 2030 (1st Trimester) - 1 trimester = 2029 (3rd Trimester). Therefore, your last enrollable term is AY 2029-2030, 3rd Trimester (and not AY 2030-2031)
- Example: You first enrolled in ASIT during AY 2023-2024, 3rd Trimester.
- 2023 + 7 years = 2030
- 2030 (3rd Trimester) - 1 trimester = 2030 (2nd Trimester). Therefore, your last enrollable term is AY 2030-2031, 2nd Trimester
